I sometimes despair at the state of the online ad market and how many agencies, clients and publishers rely on banners for their branding campaigns. Don’t get me wrong, they have their place on a media plan, but simple banners should never be the plan.
Therefore (and I think it should be obvious following that) it’s rare that I praise the use of banners. However, this one from Sony promoting 3D TV is great and in my mind, symbolises a lot of what an effective banner should be.
It’s simple, beautifully designed, clear, communicates the product and message well and is eye-catching. Credit to Anomoly here (who were also responsible for Diesel’s Be Stupid campaign).
